SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME -2018  ACTIVITY REPORT:

DAY: 1: 15-07-2018: ORIENTATION TO THE VAKKUR VILLAGE:  

We arrived vakkur village at 9.30 am under the guidance of Mr.Krishnamoorthy, associate professor Swachh bharat co-coordinator. We met Mr.pudhan panjayate clerk he accompanied us to orient the vakkur village we roamed all over the village we visited government middle school at vakkur village and we introduced our self into Mrs.pushparani head misters we taught about vision and mission of the Swachh bharat summer internship programme. We had fruitful conversation important village leaders with Mr.Ethirasu and others. We watch the activity of village sweepers and gained cooperation for our activity .we had opportunity to meet Mr.Aravazhy. BDO, Mr. Mubarak scheme BDO, Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari., Zonal BDO and their team members

DAY:2 : 16-07-2018: PRE-TEST –KNOWLEDGE ON ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION, OPEN DEFECATION &CLEANLINESS:

We selected Mariyamman Koil Street,Periya Theru at vakkur village we framed 10 questions regarding Swachh bharat and cleanliness ,environment sanitation and usage of toilet .we collected pre test knowledge from breadwinner of the family. We analyzed the data .60% of people had inadequate knowledge, 30%people had moderately adequate knowledge 10% of people had adequate knowledge .so we keen to make awareness regarding cleanliness and toilet usage ,toilet construction and environmental sanitation

DAY: 3: 17-07-2018: SURVEY ON TOILET CONSTRUCTION AND TOILET USAGE:

There are 422 houses present in vakkur village in this 285 houses were constructed toilet under Swachh bharat mission.137 houses not yet constructed and 36 houses were in progress to constructing toilet ,remain 101 houses were identified and insisted to construct the toilet and also we instructed regarding state and central government subsidy for toilet construction. 

DAY: 4: 18-07-2018:  INAUGURAL FUNCTION –SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

We have conducted inaugural function of Swachh bharat summer internship programme was held on 18-07-2018 at vakkur village. The chief guest of this function was Mr.Sankar district co-coordinator of Swachh bharat, Mr.Aravazhy. BDO, Mr. Mubarak scheme BDO, Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari., Zonal BDO and their team members. Our college principal Mrs. Porselvi and Mr.Krishnamoorthy associate professor, co-coordinator Swachh bharat, Mr.Daniel Tamil Selvan assistant professor, Mrs.Dhanalakshmi assistant professor, Mrs.kumuthavalli, Nursing Tutor&Mrs.Subasree, nursing tutor, students& public people   were participated in this programme.

DAY: 5: 19-07-2018:  DOOR TO DOOR MEETING –DEMONSTATION OF HAND WASHING TECHNIQUE:

Frequent hand-washing is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading illness. Hand-washing offers great rewards in terms of preventing illness. Adopting this habit can play a major role in protecting your health. We explained when and how to wash your hands properly. We divided our self into three groups for three streets .we entered into each house and gathered their family members in outside houses .first we explained the importance of hand washing and steps of hand washing .we demonstrated the techniques of hand washing .we requested to do the hand washing technique. Mothers and children’s were actively participated in this programme

DAY: 6: 20-07-2018:  DOOR TO DOOR MEETING –DISTRIBUTION OF HANDOUT AND PAMPLET:

We have distributed pamphlets’ and hand out to public and explained to read and follow. We pasted poster in each house with their consent 

DAY: 7: 21-07-2018:  DOOR TO DOOR MEETING –VISITING THE TOILET USAGE:

We have visited the each house to look whether they are using toilets or not .if they are using toilet we explained cleanliness of toilet, using slippers while go to toilet

DAY: 8: 22-07-2018:  STREET CLEANING-MARIYAMMAN KOIL STREET:

Mr.katheresan, village sweepers helped us to clean the middle street. We called people to participate cleaning programme. We have shown how to keep our street clean and neat. We explained how to segregate wastage into biogradable and non biogradable wastage.

DAY: 9: 23-07-2018:  STREET CLEANING –PERIYA THERU:

Mrs.Indhra, village sweepers helped us to clean the middle street. We called people to participate cleaning programme. We have shown how to keep our street clean and neat. We explained how to segregate wastage into biogradable and non biogradable wastage.

DAY: 10: 24-07-2018:  AWARENESS PROGRAMME – FOLK DANCE:

We gathered the people in periya theru Street to explain toilet usage through folk dance. There are 45 people were participated. At last people were asked many doubts. We clarified their doubts

DAY: 25: 19-07-2018:  RALLY AT VAKKUR VILLAGE:

We invited public and school students to participate rally in vakkur village through using band system .rally were started with waving the green flag by Mr.Sankar district co-coordinator of Swachh bharat, Mr.Aravazhy. BDO, Mr. Mubarak scheme BDO, Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari., Zonal BDO and their team members. Our college staffs were Mr.Krishnamoorthy associate professor, co-coordinator Swachh bharat, Mrs.Dhanalakshmi assistant professor, Mrs.kumuthavalli, Nursing Tutor&, nursing and school students& public people   participated in this programme. Awareness made through saying slogan and lifting the pluck cards, distributing the pamphlets and hand outs

DAY: 12: 26-07-2018:  AWARENESS PROGRAMME –STREET PLAY, FLASH CARDS

We gathered the people in Mariyamman koil Street to explain environmental hygiene and personal hygiene through street plays. There are 10 people were participated. At last people were asked many doubts. We clarified their doubts

DAY: 13: 27-07-2018:  MOVIE SHOW:

We gathered the people in pudhan house at periya theru about 11 am to environmental hygiene through movie show. There are 20 people were participated. At last people were asked many doubts. We clarified their doubts

DAY: 14: 28-07-2018:  AWARENESS PROGRAMME –POSTER PRESENTATION:

We gathered the people in their home at mariyamman koil Street to explain about toilet construction through poster.

DAY: 15: 30-07-2018:  POST TEST &VALEDICTORY FUNCTION:

We selected Aasari Street, Middle Street and Natamai Street at vakkur village. we used same  10 questions regarding Swachh bharat and cleanliness, environment sanitation and usage of toilet .we collected post  test knowledge from breadwinner of the family. We analyzed the data .10% of people had inadequate knowledge, 10 %people had moderately adequate knowledge 80% of people had adequate knowledge.

The valedictory function of Swachh bharat summer internship programme held on 30-07-2018.The chief guest of this function was Mr.Ethirasu, Village leader. He gave feedback about Swachh bharat summer internship activity at vakkur village. Student activity report was read by Mr.Krishnamoorthy Associate  Professor, coordinator Swachh bharat. Programme was ended with national anthem

CONCLUSION:

We have found several changes in their habits and behavior.

1. People were started  using clothe bag as evidenced by statement of angadi shop
2. People were avoiding open defecation as evidenced by village leaders statement
3. People were learned to segregate biogradable and non biogradable wastage as evidenced by village sweepers’ statement.
4. People were practicing proper hand washing technique as evidenced by observing the houses

FIRST AID TRAINING CLASS

The Students of E.S College of Nursing organized First Aid training classes for primary school children’s as NSS Activity on 09.02.2018 at Thumbur Government primary school. B.Sc (Nursing) II Year students Ms.Ganagavalli and Miss.Dhivya participated in the programme. They demonstrated the first aid procedures for minor cut injury, drowning and snake bite. Totally 74 school students benefited through this training class. As a part of it First Aid Kit was donated to the School. The School Headmistress , Mrs.Sivakumari, said that the Programme was very good & we are grateful & thanking to the services provided by E.S college of Nursing.
