Aim

To develop and support excellence in research that promotes the quality and the experience of pregnancy, child birth and early parenting.

Objectives

  • To provide an opportunity for collaborative research in the area of maternal and child health
  • To conduct research that will influence and promote better health for children
  • To work in a co-operative manner with health services providers to provide empirical data to guide the care and support of women and their families, through all stages of the maternity period.

Activity

The primary function of the department is to provide comprehensive care of children through education, practice and research.

  • Providing care to pediatrics cases in clinical and community setup.
  • Active participation in immunization clinic, child guidance clinic, well baby clinic, rehabilitation clinic, high risk baby clinic (retinopathy of prematurity)
  • Participation in pulse polio immunization programme and door to door survey in Villupuram District (Mailam, Siruvanthadu)
  • Participation and organization of state and national level conferences
  • Observing and celebrating significant days in Pediatrics Nursing
  • World Zoonosis Day - July 6th
  • Breast Feeding Week Celebration - August 1st wk
  • Universal Children's Day - August 20th
  • World Immunization Day - Nov 10th
